サンクスギビングデーとは

感謝祭（かんしゃさい、英語: Thanksgiving Day）は、アメリカ合衆国とカナダの祝日のひとつ。Thanksgivingと略称されたり、あるいは七面鳥の日（Turkey Day）と呼んだりもする。アメリカでは11月の第4木曜日、カナダでは10月の第2月曜日になっている。日本のプロテスタントでは収穫感謝日と呼ぶ。

Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. While there was an underlying religious element in the original celebration, Thanksgiving today is primarily identified as a secular holiday.^[1]

Currently, in Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October and in the United States, it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Thanksgiving in Canada falls on the same day as Columbus Day in the United States.
